Using the Color Wheel…
Analogous colors:
Colors that are found right next to each other on the color wheel. These colors blend well together and are great for adding depth and highlights because you have different tones of the same general color family. You can add the darker color in the eyelid crease or along the lash line for depth and definition, and you can use the lighter colors for highlights.
Complementary colors:
Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel-colors that tend to pop when next to each other, such as blue next to orange, or purple next to yellow. Use complementary colors when you want to make a statement and to create a look that really pops. For example, using a peachy shadow on your lids will make your blue eyes appear even bluer! Or pair a mossy green eye shadow with a red lip for a captivating look.
